Welcome! I'm Pam, a 30-something year old with over ten years of teaching experience in both public schools and Catholic homeschool settings. I love both learning and teaching, and have degrees in elementary education, English as a second language, and a certification in Theology of the Body. Here is the story of how I discovered the TOB.
In the summer of 2015, after briefly discerning religious life, I was on a road trip reuniting with some of my classmates who had also since discerned out of the convent. One of the girls, from Philadelphia, mentioned the Theology of the Body Institute. This was the second time I had heard about the institute, so I looked up TOB I and realized it was only an hour and a half away, hidden in Pennsylvania Amish country, just in my backyard of the Eastern Shore of Maryland. After my first course in 2016, I couldn't believe I had never heard of this teaching or the institute before, and knew I had to continue, even though I didn't know why, or even if it was possible. God has since opened wide all the doors, and I’ve always known that this was His plan, not mine.
Growing up with a Catholic homeschool education in a family of eleven kids, I thought I had a pretty well-rounded knowledge of theology, but I was completely unprepared for the conversion of my heart and new lens that the first week, and subsequent weeks, of immersion in the TOB would give me. Through growing in my knowledge of the Theology of the Body, I’ve come to understand I am loved wholly and completely by the Lord. The TOB has helped me learn what it means to be a spiritual mother and make a “gift of self” as a single person to my family, my parish, and my students. Most importantly, I’ve fallen deeply in love with the Lord through cultivating a regular and intentional prayer life. Each course has marked a bend in the road in my journey, and I feel like I’m just holding on for the ride. I’m grateful to the amazing teachers I’ve had, to the Institute staff, and my classmates, whose stories have encouraged and touched me along the way, and I’m excited to let God use my growth and knowledge to help others.
It is my hope to create a space for conversation about these beautiful teachings. Please reach out and let me know how I can help. Let’s find the intersection of church teaching and culture, and meet there.
